When Lee & Associates – New Jersey opened in 2009, Vice President & Principal Jason C. Lynch immediately identified secure, reliable data backup as a top priority in the new enterprise. "As a company, we keep a lot of our documents in digital format," Lynch says. "All our correspondence, leases and legal documents are on our system. If our server went down with no way to get the data back on it we'd be up the river."

Critical to the real estate company's success is the security of their clients' financial records. "We handle a lot of bookkeeping and accounting for our clients," he says. "We store all of their files, which can include years of accounting records. If we permanently lost that data, we'd be out of business."

When the New Jersey office first opened, an employee was doing local backups to CDs, which were stored on site. Lynch remembers that since it was only one person's responsibility, the task would occasionally be skipped. "If the place burned down, we would have been in real trouble," he says.

Lynch had used BUMI (Backup My Info!) at a previous company. He also knew of a close colleague in a field with strict regulatory parameters that had recently completed a comprehensive vetting process for an online backup service and ended up hiring BUMI as well. Lynch says once he looked at BUMI's online service and rates, he signed up right away.

It didn't take long for Lynch to see that he had made the right decision. "Our server crashed a few years ago," he says. "We found out about it on a Saturday afternoon and BUMI had it back up and running Saturday night. We downloaded everything from them and restarted. Most of our employees didn't know anything had happened when they came in on Monday morning."

Lee & Associates – New Jersey is using BUMI to back up their main server, which all 25 employees of the Little Falls-based real estate firm use to store documents, correspondence, financial records, QuickBooks files and presentations, as well as their clients' critical financial accounting records, leases and legal documents.

Lynch has been very impressed with BUMI's quick response time, thorough trouble shooting and highly personalized customer service. "When the BUMI team sees a significant spike in our storage amount, they contact me ahead of the bill going out to make sure I am ok with the additional storage. If the additional storage was unintentional, BUMI gives me the opportunity to remove it so we are not charged," he says. "I don't know of any other vendor that calls us and tells us how to save money."

According to Lynch, besides great service, the most important thing BUMI provides is piece of mind. "As a small business owner, I wake up in the middle of the night with plenty of things to worry about," he says. "Data backup is the last thing I want to lose sleep over. With BUMI I know I'm covered."
